DEBUTANT, the debate and public speaking club of our department is into its 2nd glorious year. The enthusiasm in the students has transformed the club from a mere platform for debating over various contemporary issues, to a forum where the students not only debate but can also showcase their talent in different management games. The club has organized mega events like VOICE and INVOLUTION that have been great hits with students across all the 3 years. Core committee members worked tirelessly to get award sponsors and the club can gallantly boast rewarding winners with cash prizes and iPad.

I am really happy to see the incredible change and developments that have taken place since I passed out in 2005.

The college has certainly grown from strength to strength and is largely focused on application rather than text bookish knowledge.

Many programs incorporate training and practical experience, in the form of case projects, presentations, internships, industrial visits, and interaction with experts from industry.

It offers the most up to date Management courses inKolkata and India and is affiliated to Jadavpur University which is a public state university located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The courses offered by the Institute are exclusive and no other Jadavpur University affiliate can offer the BBA (Honours) course that are conducted at the Institute's premises. In the third and final year students can choose to specialise in Marketing Or Finance. The course includes all aspects of overseeing and supervising business operations, as well as related fields which include accounting, finance and marketing.

It is a satellite campus which was started in 2002 to house the co-educational Department of Management. At this time, the name of the institution was simplified to J. D. Birla Institute (Department Of Management).
