Established in 1962, J. D. Birla Institute (JDBI) is a premier institute in Kolkata, having completed more than 50 years in service to higher education. The Institute is affiliated to Jadavpur University, a world renowned Center of Excellence. JDBI was awarded the highest possible grading of ‘A’ by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in 2010, in acknowledgement of its continuous quest for excellence and exemplary standards.
JDBI’s Department of Management’s flagship BBA program has been ranked the Best Management college in Eastern India and fourth highest ranked BBA college in India, by India Today – A C Nielsen vide their publication dated 22nd May, 2017. The co-educational Department of Management is housed in JDBI’s Satellite Campus, which is conveniently located in the heart of the city near Minto Park. The Department, which was established in response to the needs and demands of changing times, has evolved as the best management college in Kolkata.
While the management courses are taught in classrooms and seminar hall equipped with multimedia and audio-visual equipment, the Department’s pedagogy encourages constant interaction between students and faculty via seminars, term papers, one-on-one mentoring, industry visits, excursions and other co-curricular activities. The professionally qualified, experienced and dedicated faculties are drawn from various educational fields, who contribute to the institute’s academic excellence. Students’ opinion on faculty is valuable to the institute’s quest for all round excellence and a formal students’ feedback process is part of our faculty appraisal audit conducted at the end of each semester by an external agency to ensure objective results. The Institute has a Learning Resource Centre (LRC) with a very impressive collection of reference books, professional journals, magazines and newspapers covering all parameters in the field of management. CD/DVD ROMS, online databases and e-journals are also available in the Learning Resource Centre, which is equipped with a bank of 46 computers with internet access. Students are encouraged to use these facilities for their research and study purposes.
All of the above, along with the state-of-the-art computer laboratories with LAN connectivity and 24 hour internet access, common area for students' recreation and relaxation, state-of-the art cafeteria providing affordable and hygienic vegetarian food, playground (Badminton) and indoor games facility (carom, chess), have resulted into JDBI becoming the highest ranked BBA college in Kolkata.
